Offering a 360 – degree view of Kamloops, Jadoo Eclectic Indian Restaurant has the highest rooftop lounge in the city. Opened on October 29th, Jadoo is located on 555 Columbia St on top of Hotel Ramada.

The word “Jadoo” translates from Hindi to mean “magic”, being the theme of the restaurant. Their menu offers a magical experience of Indian food and cocktails. Each dish has a traditional story behind it explaining the origin along with its ingredients. For example, if you order Aloo Tikki, it says “Portuguese sailors brought a root vegetable known as “aloo” (potato) into Bengal in the 17th Century. “Aloo Tikki” was invented as a vegetarian substitute for meat patties in the Indian Subcontinent. We serve ours with coleslaw, apple aioli, onion, and tomato.”

“Indian cuisine has a very rich heritage to it. A legacy. We decided to get the story of India to North America and tell it in a way people would understand and the best way to memorize is through a story”, said the restaurant manager Rishi Kumar.

Indian food is made from scratch using fresh ingredients and a various selection of spices in an organic way. This results in less use of preservatives ensuring healthier food to be consumed. Jadoo gets their ingredients locally and makes their sauces at the restaurant from scratch following the Indian tradition.

“It took around 3 months for us to create and finalize our menu”, continued Rishi. “In British Columbia, we do not have any restaurants that offer this kind of modern or fusion Indian cuisine.” Rishi and Percy Amaria, owner of Jadoo, who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America did a lot of research on how to get the best menu out there for people to try. “Percy has been in the North America for 26 years and has done a lot of developments in the food and hospitality industry.”

The Jadoo Hot Dog is an Indian take on the tradition North American hot dog. They replace the hot dog with marinated and spiced mutton seekh kebab (minced or ground meat) and serve it with traditional Kachumber Salad made from cucumber, tomato, and onion.

The Signature Cocktails of the menu offers “A Toast to Chai”. Calling upon the tea drinking tradition of India, Jadoo combines Earl Grey Tea with fresh herbs and spices and infuses it with Vodka to “create magic on your palate”. There is also a tributed drink to Percy called Percy’s Potion available. Aside their signature drinks, they also offer regular drinks as well.

Jadoo offers a 360 view of Kamloops city with a beautiful background of the hills, valley and rivers meant for use in warmer weather.
